Find Your Ride

The Vintage Road Racing Association has a class for virtually all motorcycles up to 1989, and for modern two stroke Grand Prix bikes up to 2006. Classes are divided into “Periods” according to the date of manufacture and underlying technology. If you can’t find your bike in the lists below, ask us and we’ll do our best to find your bike a place. We would love to have you race with us.

Period 1 - Classic Vintage
Maximum Model Year 1967

• 200 Grand Prix (up to 200cc)
• 250 Grand Prix (up to 250cc)
• 350 Grand Prix (251cc to 350cc)
• 500 Grand Prix (351cc to 500cc)
• Open Grand Prix (over 501)

  • Aermacchi/Harley Sprint (Any road-based 250 or 350cc four-stroke single up to and including 1974)
  • BMW Rennsport and /5 models (Maximum displacement 750cc)
  • BSA 441, B50 and twins to 750cc (No 4-valve heads will be permitted)
  • Bultaco (all motors and models through 1972)
  • Ducati singles
  • Greeves Silverstone
  • Harley-Davidson KR, ER, and CR roadracers
  • Honda CB/CL/SL 350cc with drum brakes, CR, CB, and CL twins to 500cc
  • Jawa (2-valve, four-stroke single cylinder speedway engines through 1978)
  • Laverda 750 SF
  • Montesa (All motors and bike models through 1972)
  • Norton 750cc Commando
  • Ossa (All bike models through 1972)

Period 2 - 1960's Era
Maximum Model Year 1972

• Lightweight Supervintage – 125cc two strokes to 350cc four cylinder 4-strokes
• Heavyweight Supervintage – Two strokes up to 750cc, four stroke OHC engines up to 750cc, four stroke push rod engines up to 850cc
• Middleweight Production – 400cc two strokes to 650cc pushrod four stroke twins

  • Can-am MX-1, 2, 3 & 4 (175 and 250cc) 1973-1977
  • Harley-Davidson XR750, KR750
  • Honda CR350, CR750, MT 125R air cooled, CB 350/4 CB400F, CB500/550 up to 1978

Period 3 - Superbike
Maximum Model Year 1982

• Lightweight – 250cc water-cooled and 400cc air-cooled two strokes. 550cc four cylinder, 650cc two cylinder and unlimited single cylinder 4 strokes
• Middleweight – 350cc water-cooled and 550cc three cylinder air-cooled two strokes. 750cc four cylinder and 860cc two cylinder four strokes
• Heavyweight – 750cc two strokes, 750cc water-cooled, 1100cc and unlimited push-rod four strokes

Period 4 - 1980's Era
Maximum Model Year 1989

• Formula 3 – 125cc GP bikes, 400 twin/triple and 500cc single two strokes. 400cc 4 stroke four cylinders, 650cc 4 stroke twins, Unlimited four stroke singles
• Formula 2 – 250cc 2 stroke GP bikes, 750cc 4 stroke twins, 860cc twins and 600cc multi cylinder four strokes
• Formula 1 – 500cc two strokes. 750cc multi cylinder and 1000cc twin four strokes,

Modern Grand Prix
Factory built two stroke road racing machines
  • 125 GP: Single cylinder liquid cooled up to 125cc
  • 250 GP: Any configuration up to 250cc
  • 500 GP: Any configuration 263cc and above

  • Aprilia RS125 and RS250R
  • Honda RS125 and RS250 1995 and up
  • Yamaha TZ125 and TZ250 1990 and up

New Classes For 2020
Period 5

For 2020, 2021 and 2022 the VRRA will host a new classe on a trial basis.

Period 5 provides 2 classes for late model bikes. Formula 2 provides a home for middleweight Sportbikes up to 1997 and Formula 1 for Superbikes up to 1996. Any machine originally manufactured for road racing or subsequently modified is eligible

Machines will run with the equivalent Period 4 F2 and Period 4 F1 classes, and all machines are eligible for both sprint and endurance races.

Period 5

  • Aprilia: RS250 (street) to 1997, RSV250
  • Ducati: 748 all years,
  • Honda: RS250 to 1995, CBR600F2, CBR600F3 to 1998,
  • Kawasaki: ZX6E to 2002, ZX6R to 1997,
  • Suzuki: RGV250SP, RF600 to 1997, GSXR600 to 2000,
  • Yamaha: TZ250 to 1995, YZF600 to 2007
  • Britten: V-1000 Buell: S2 Thunderbolt to 1996
  • Ducati: 888, 916 all years
  • Harley Davidson: VR1000, XL883 to 2003
  • Honda: NSR500, VFR750 to 1997, RVF 750 and RC45 to 1996,
  • Kawasaki: ZX7 and ZX7R to 2003
  • Suzuki: RG500 all years, GSXR750 to 1998 (SRAD allowed no FI)
  • Triumph: Daytona 750 Yamaha: YZR500, YZF750 to 1998
